RUTH CARROLL MACDOUGALL McCARTIN

RUTH CARROLL MACDOUGALL McCARTIN passed away on November 4, 2012 in Dana Point, California. She was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on December 17, 1925, attended Redwood Falls schools and graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1947. After graduation, she worked in department store advertising in St. Paul, Minnesota; taught first grade in Quantico, Virginia; worked in newspaper display advertising in Costa Mesa, California; and returned to teaching in high school alternative-charter schools after attending the University of California in Irvine, and the University of Indiana.
Ruth was active in the Costa Mesa Historical Society, the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society as a tour guide, the Costa Mesa Girls Club, Costa Mesa Presbyterian Church of the Covenant and Community Presbyterian Church of San Juan Capistrano.
She is survived by four sons: Michael (Catherine), Mark (Cheryl), Casey (Geri) and Duff. In addition, Ruth had nine grandchildren: Laurie, Jennifer, Megan, Cameron, Shaun, Casey, Taryn, Cheyenna, Jenni, and a great-granddaughter, Paige.
Church services will take place on November 15, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, 32202 Del Obispo Street, San Juan Capistrano, California 92675, immediately followed by a celebration of Ruth’s life at Niguel Shores Recreation Center, 33654 Niguel Shores Drive, Monarch Beach, California 92629, telephone (949) 493-0122. Food and drinks will be served.
