Heather Rooney - A loving mother and wonderful friend to so many passed away in her son’s arms of a heart attack Wednesday June 27th,
17 days after her 70th Birthday. Born June 10th, 1942 in London England and graduating from Hollywood High School after moving to California she led a truly amazing life. As a teenager she traveled the world with her Mother from London to South Africa, back again then to Canada and finally Southern California. During the 60’s with an amazing voice and guitar playing she wrote songs and was a promising folk singer while working for IBM in downtown L.A. She met and married Mike Raven who was the owner of The Omnibus Coffeehouse in Hollywood where she played frequently and where they jointly planned and produced the first “Love In” at Griffith Park. During the same period she also recorded an album on which Mason Williams collaborated which was arranged and produced by Mickey Braddock aka Mickey Dolenz. Her son James was born in December of 1967 who’s friends she lovingly “adopted” as second sons and daughters who were her family as well and always referred to her simply as “Mom”. In 1986 she moved to Newport Beach and began a series of entrepreneurial adventures with her son starting with a successful medical transcription company as well as opening and operating the local nightclubs Atlantis, Tsunami/Aysia 101 and Club Vegas where she became well known as the nightly host and front door gatekeeper, always ready with a witty comment and a smile.
Later in life as she continued to lead a vibrant life online maintaining contact through her daily Facebook posts of wonderful photographs she took from webcams around the world as well as amazing animal photos she had a knack for discovering and her daily “Funnies”
all of which will be sorely missed. She truly was a Bright Spark in so many lives.

She is survived by her son James Raven, cousins scattered across the globe and many terrific friends who were her family as well. A celebration of her life is planned for 10AM Sunday July 15th at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar. All of those who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name at woundedwarriorproject.org
