Bob was born and lived in Ketchikan, Alaska, until he was 10, when his family moved to Southern California. He spent most of his life in Corona del Mar and, upon retirement, moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. Bob attended college in Ventura, California, prior to joining the Navy in the early 1950s and serving in the Korea Conflict. Subsequently, he graduated from San Diego State University. Although he made his living as an accountant, Bob’s passion for surfing took him daily to the ocean near San Diego or Newport Beach, California.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter R. and Maxine Aiken Bjorneby, and his youngest sister, Susan Bjorneby Watkins Milhon. Surviving family members include his brother, Walter E. Bjorneby (Greeley, CO), sisters, Karen B. McLaughlin (Grand Junction, CO) and Lynne B. Roth (Rolling Meadows, IL) and 5 nieces and 3 nephews.
It was Bob’s request to have no services, but in accord with his love of the ocean, his ashes will be scattered at sea in a formal Navy ceremony.
