Our loving mother, Rita, was born in Coldwater, Ohio to Leo and Barbara Rammel Braun. She became a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1943. While there, she met Carlo Tosti on a blind date. They were married in Dayton, Ohio on January 27, 1946. He whisked her away to Palo Alto, CA where she began her married life. She is survived by 6 children, Patricia, Mary, Angela, Carlo Jr, Joseph and Barbara. She had 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. When she moved with her family to Newport Beach in 1964, she became the first president of Our Lady Queen of Angels school auxiliary. She was known by many as Nurse Rita, since she worked at Harbor Pediatrics from 1967-1999, giving allergy injections to Newport’s youth. Although being incredibly busy, she found time to crochet, do needlepoint, and square dance. After retiring, she traveled the world, played bridge twice a week, volunteered at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, and was past president of the Orange County Society of Military Widows. She will live forever in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach. Donations in her memory can be made to casateresa.com
