Richard “Dick” William Putman<br/>April 22, 1934 - August 16, 2014

Richard “Dick” William Putman spent so much of his life helping and serving others. Dick passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014; he was 80 years young.

Since his passing, all of us who loved Dick have found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration for him from the people whose lives he touched. His greatest legacy, besides his three children, Lisa, Thegn and Skylar, is the joy and happiness he offered to others, Dick was a true love of people.

A total sports fan of many venues from College Football to his favorite professional Golf. Dick could be seen with two Television sets going at the same time with the volume to be heard from the front and back yards, while gardening, mowing the lawn, beer in hand and barbecuing at the same time, a true multi tasked individual to say the least.

Along with watching sports events on TV Dick excelled at athletics growing up. “I was really good at Basketball but Football was my favorite, I liked the physical contact of both sports.”

A lifelong frustrated Golfer, Dick had the pleasure of having not one but two hole in ones in his lifetime. Dick lived in Augusta Georgia growing up and was a Marshall at the Augusta Masters. The Masters Tournament remained his favorite Golf Tournament of all time to watch and would share many stories of interest with his family and friends about all the nuances of this special golf memory of Dicks.

“A real Sweetheart of a man, the kind they don’t make anymore” said his Brother in Law Butch Pope.

Dick was the oldest of eight children, born in Crawford, Nebraska. Spending most of his youth in Augusta Georgia, he attended Georgia Tech. University in Atlanta Georgia studying Civil Engineering where Dick met his love of his life Dianne, they were married for 57 years. Dick knew only one home for a residence his entire adult life on Costa Mesa Street, where he raised a family.

Dick worked in the Homebuilding industry for such builders as: MBK Homes, The Mission Viejo Company and Irvine Pacific to name a few. Dick was a decorated Veteran in the United States Army.

Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, his children Lisa, Thegn, and Skylar and their spouses Karen and Kimberly, Grandson Shai. his sisters Zo, Linda, Nancy brothers Joe, Rhett, Rory and Chris.

There will be remembrance gathering at the family home at 476 Costa Mesa Street, Costa Mesa.
