Richard (Dick) V. Price from Newport Beach passed away at home February 10th at the age of 82 following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 13, 1928 and lived in Pittsburg, PA until he was 14. When his father (James Henry) died in 1942, his family moved to Beverly Hills - Mother (Florence), Brother (Jim) and 2 Sisters (Florence & Jeanne).

He graduated from Beverly Hills High, then UCLA with a Theater Arts degree and was a proud member of Theta Xi fraternity.

After graduation Richard joined the Navy, and became an officer (Lieutenant). Following his discharge in 1953, he continued in the reserves until 1965. When he and his wife moved to Newport Beach in 1980, he joined the American Legion post 291.

Richard married his college sweetheart (Grayne Ferguson) in September 1952 and was married over 58 years with 3 children.

Richard worked for Allstate Insurance his entire career and retired at the age of 54. For nearly 30 years he and Grayne spent much of their time traveling throughout the world. He was also most proud to be a dedicated volunteer at Hoag Hospital, donating over 2000 hours of service.

Richard is survived by his wife (Grayne), 3 children (Dayna & husband Jim, Darren & wife Audra and Kyle), 5 grandchildren (Sandy, Amy, Paul, Sara & Leighann), 2 great-grandchildren (Jake & Sophia) and two nephews, James & Walter Hatch.

Contributions would proudly be accepted in Richard’s name to Hoag Hospital.

A private memorial is being planned.
