Noreen Baume, 86 of Costa Mesa passed away with family members by her side at her home on June 21, 2014.

Born July 15, 1927 in Los Angeles, Noreen spent most of her youth in the San Francisco Bay area where she graduated from Albany High school in the East Bay, attended San Jose State, worked as a clerk at Stanford University and was an active member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. Noreen is a direct descendant of the old Spanish California de Larios family and on her father’s side they were pioneer “49ers” that built ships in the late 19th century bay area. She married her lifetime partner, Edgar on March 27, 1950 and from that point forward, committed her life to serve her family with love and devotion.

The Baume family moved to Costa Mesa in 1963 where they quickly became active in the community. Noreen served as church secretary at the Congregational Church of Christ in Corona del Mar for 25 years and was still able to attend all of her sons and grandsons athletic games to serve as team mom. Her hobbies included baking, trying new recipes and flower arranging where she won several blue ribbons at the OC Fair.

Noreen will be deeply missed but her love and spirit for family will continue to thrive through her husband Edgar; sons, Steve and Gary; grandsons, Dan, Sean and Tim; great-grandson Danny; daughter and granddaughter in laws, Cindy and Ivis.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday July 6th at 3pm at the Costa Mesa Community Center at Lions Park and a private family service will take place at the Riverside National Cemetery the following day. As a lifetime advocate for animals, we are confident in lieu of flowers she would want a donation made to the OC Humane society.
