Naomi Aarons Savasky<br/> August 31, 1929 - April 15, 2014

Naomi Aarons Savasky died peacefully on April 15, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Naomi was able to live at home for many years after her dementia diagnosis, with the support of her family, especially her son, Daniel, her husband Robert and her devoted caregiver, Lita Tabios.

Naomi was born on August 31, 1929 in Albany, NY to Dena and Meyer Aarons. The family later settled in Syracuse, NY where she graduated from Nottingham High School in 1947. Her work experience thereafter lead to employment at General Electric’s new Electronics Park Facility in Liverpool, NY. Her future husband, Robert Savasky, was also employed by General Electric, having joined the company in 1946, following graduation from Syracuse University. They married on January 6, 1952. By the year’s end they headed west, settling in Southern California. They raised their three children in Downey and later in Newport Beach.

Naomi devoted many years to making a home, caring for her family and contributing much time to numerous service organizations. She was a past president of the Downey Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women and later was active in the Costa Mesa-Newport Beach Chapter. After her children were grown, she gained employment with Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company when the company relocated to Newport Beach. Naomi was the secretary to Allen Harper, who was President of Pacific Investment Management Company, PIMCO, during its infant stages.

Naomi loved spending time with her grandchildren, and in 1989 she moved to Santa Cruz to be closer to them. She loved to travel, garden and entertain. Naomi also loved animals and took in many stray dogs over the years. Her loving, warm and spirited nature will be missed.

Naomi is survived by her husband, Robert Savasky; her sister, Miriam Weiss; her sons, Paul Savasky and Daniel Savasky; her daughter-in-law, Sarah Savasky; her son-in-law, Ramesh Karnani; and her four grandchildren, Nicholas Savasky, Amanda Savasky, Eric Karnani and Julia Karnani. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Savasky Karnani.

Graveside services were held Sunday, April 20th at Temple Beth El Home of Peace Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, May 18th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the family residence, 121 Redwood Street, Santa Cruz.
