On January 11, 2011 Carol DeVlieg Mulholland lost her brief battle with cancer. Carol was the middle child of Gerrit DeVlieg and Alice Berglind. Born in Evanston, Illinois on July 25th, 1938, the family moved to Highland Park, Illinois where Carol graduated high school. Carol attended the University of Miami of Ohio. She then traveled with her dear friend to Philadelphia, PA where she was employed by General Electric and found the love of her life, Emerson (Dick) Richard Mulholland. They married, and as Dick was promoted within the Ford Motor Company, Carol, Dick and their three children crisscrossed the United States until they finally settled in Newport Beach, California.

For 40 years, Carol centered her life around faith, family and friends. When Dick died in 1982, Carol later went back to work and eventually retired from UC Irvine.

Carol leaves behind her children Gerrit (Greg) Michael, Lauren Mulholland & David (Jennifer) Mulholland, sisters Doris (Max) Loudenslager and Linda (Charlie) Cretor, sister-in-law Mary Ann Kurmlavage, eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach.
