A UC Irvine student was sentenced to 40 days in jail and three years’ probation after pleading guilty to carrying a loaded gun on campus last month, the Orange County district attorney’s office said Tuesday.

Manas Moole Reddy, 28, of Irvine was charged with one felony count each of possession of a loaded firearm on a college campus, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, according to the Orange County Superior Court website.

Reddy was arrested Nov. 18 at UCI after a female student saw him clutching a handgun. He had been hiding the revolver, loaded with six shots, while he stood in a parking lot near the science library, officials said.
