Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!

Hundreds of local families watched as 77 Fair Drive transformed from the Costa Mesa Civic Center to a wintry scene out of a Peanuts comic Saturday night.

While rain kept the Snoopy House from opening Friday night as originally planned, soggy conditions didn’t keep locals away from the 48-year-old tradition.

Until moving to City Hall, the tribute to Charles Shultz’s long running comic was displayed at an Eastside home.

Families sipped hot chocolate and apple cider as they walked through the Peanuts-themed displays, took a spin on a train circling the civic center green and snapped photos on Santa’s sleigh.

The Snoopy House, which attracts an estimated 80,000 visitors annually, will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m. until Dec. 23.
