Biz News: Coldwell Banker opens brokerage in Newport Center

Rush Hill, while still Newport Beach mayor, participated in a ribbon-cutting Dec. 4 at the grand opening of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage at 840 Newport Center Drive, Suite 100.

About 200 people attended the event, including Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage President Jamie Duran, Vice President of Operations Leeann Iacino, and Newport Beach office managers Greg Bingham and Cas Pinowski, according to a news release from the firm.

Gourmet waffle shop opens

The Waffle Affair has opened at 1064 Bayside Drive, in the Bayside Center across from Balboa Island, according to an announcement from the eatery.

The restaurant serves Liége- and Belgian-style waffles. Instead of toppings, extra ingredients are mixed into the batter. A coffee bar offers blended lattes and espresso drinks.

The Waffle Affair is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Doughnut sales help homeless children

Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, at 270 E. 17th St. in Costa Mesa, plans to donate 10% of this month’s sales of its gingerbread doughnut to the Costa Mesa-based Project Hope Alliance, a nonprofit that helps homeless children and their families by providing after-school care, educational and housing programs and transportation to and from school.

Lugano Diamonds names new CFO

Tami Cook has been named chief financial officer of Lugano Diamonds, which has locations in Newport Beach and at the Montage in Laguna Beach.

Her background is in “financial planning, financial modeling and budgeting, risk management, human resources, information technology and general business knowledge,” according to a news release.

She was named among the Top 50 Women in Business by the Pacific Coast Business Times in 2009, 2010 and 2011, according to the release.

A chief executive of a Costa Mesa-based mortgage company has won an industry honor.

Josh Friend of InSellerate was named by his peers to the Hot 100 list for 2015 by Mortgage Professional America.

Weight-loss book giveaway

Lindora, Costa Mesa-based weight-loss company, is hosting an online book giveaway from Friday through Dec. 23.

Users who “like” the Facebook page for the book, “The New Lean for Life,” and explain why they want to lose weight can qualify for a copy.

One book will be given away each day. “The New Lean for Life” was written by Lindora President Cynthia Stamper Graff and Reginald Allouche.
