Home tour to benefit Mesa middle, high schools

The Costa Mesa Middle and High Schools Foundation is hosting its first-ever holiday home tour next month.

The Home for the Holidays event Dec. 4 will showcase four houses representing different neighborhoods in Costa Mesa.

Tour attendees will also have a chance to check out the Mesa Water Native Demonstration Garden, which will be decorated as a winter wonderland, and a holiday boutique. Lunch will be provided by Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop.

Foundation members hope that the event will become one of four major annual fundraisers, with proceeds going to programs and supplies for students at Costa Mesa middle and high schools, said Foundation President Katrina Foley.

“The goal is to not only raise funds for Costa Mesa’s arts and science academies, but to also showcase all the amazing homes in the city,” said Foley, a school trustee recently elected to the City Council.

The home tour will help fund a baby grand piano for the school’s new Performing Arts Center, as well as equipment, supplies, scientific field studies, student trips and other opportunities for the science and arts academies.

Foundations supporting Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar high schools have hosted home tours annually for the past several years.

Representatives from those foundations were instrumental in assisting Costa Mesa’s effort this year, Foley said.

“It’s a good example of how our Newport-Mesa community can support each other,” she said. “It benefits everyone in the community when our schools improve.”

Tickets are on sale at https://www.costamesahometour.com for $50 each.
