Hoag staff members honored

Nominated by volunteers for the kindness they showed while on duty, three Hoag Hospital staff members were recognized recently at the Trauma Intervention Program of Orange County’s Heroes with Heart Awards.

Dr. James Shen, who has worked at Hoag Hospital Irvine for three years, “enjoys the challenges of a dynamic work environment,” like the emergency department, according to a statement from the hospital.

Nicole Bryant, a registered nurse, has been at Hoag for more than five years, the statement said, and has worked at the Irvine hospital since its grand opening three years ago. Bryant enjoys working with emergency department patients during some of their most “critical” life moments, it said.

Olivia Lustro, also a registered nurse, started her career in Hoag’s emergency department in 2010. Since then, the statement said, she has earned a reputation as “compassionate and nurturing to patients and other team members.”
