Long line of pumpkins lights up the night in Irvine

Pavilion Park, the first of the Great Park Neighborhoods in Irvine, attempted to make a global mark Saturday night by lining up lighted pumpkins on a quarter-mile path during a Pumpkin Glow event that organizers said was attended by 16,000 people.

According to Jann Rowe, marketing director for Pavilion Park developer FivePoint Communities, 1,500 pumpkins were in the display, enough to break the Guinness world record for the longest line of carved pumpkins (1,301, set in Calgary, Alberta, on Oct. 28, 2013).

Guinness World Records representative Jamie Panas Antoniou said Pumpkin Glow organizers submitted an application for the record but that an adjudicator was not at the event. “We will need to review evidence [including a video] sent in manually in order to verify this as a record,” Antoniou said.

The review could take up to six weeks, Antoniou said.
