Local and federal law enforcement agencies took “numerous boxes of paperwork and computers related to the investigation” from the offices of eight businesses they raided in Newport Beach, police said Wednesday.

The businesses — State Trust Legal, Consult Marketing Group, Reputation Enforcement, Legal Research Group/Consult Marketing, Group Remedy Center, Prudent Law Group, Remedy Center and Law Secured Processing Inc. — were searched as part of a fraud investigation, according to a news release.

Multiple agencies including the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, Orange County district attorney’s office and local police forces assisted in the raid, which started at 10 a.m. Tuesday and lasted into the afternoon.
