Harbor Heritage Run shows its fundraising colors for PTA

Share

Dust isn’t an uncommon sight at a race, but pink, blue and other hues aren’t usually in the mix.

But such was the case Saturday as Newport Harbor High School hosted the 29th annual Harbor Heritage Run to raise money for the school’s Parent Teacher Assn. Participants could try the main 5K race, a 2K run/walk, kids races or get doused with colored paint powder during the 1K Color Run.

Event chairwoman Lea Tamblyn estimated that the run raised about $18,000, which will support programs such as senior scholarships, college and career night and gifts for teacher appreciation. The PTA also will donate funds this year toward the purchase of an electronic marquee that will be placed at the school’s stadium.
