Political Landscape: Savary captures Leece endorsement

Share

Costa Mesa Councilwoman Wendy Leece has endorsed Suzanne Savary in her run for the 48th Congressional District seat.

Savary, of Newport Beach, is a Democrat; Leece is a Republican.

“I applaud council member Leece for urging moderates of all stripes to line up behind my candidacy and reasonable and responsive leadership in the coastal 48th Congressional District,” Savary said in a news release.

Leece, who is termed out of the council after two four-year terms, ran for the 48th seat in the June primary but did not make the runoff. She has since announced her run for the Orange County Water District board.

Savary, a retired USC professor and management consultant, is running against U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Costa Mesa), who is seeking his 14th term in Congress.

The 48th District includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach.
