A fire at a green-waste processing facility on the Great Park site in Irvine burned for more than six hours overnight Monday, sending a large column of smoke into the sky, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

The blaze began around 10:15 p.m. in a pile of debris and discarded building materials at Tierra Verde Industries in the 7900 block of Marine Way, Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

The flames didn’t spread from the pile, which was about 75 feet wide, and 25 firefighters had the blaze under control by 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.
