The Corona del Mar Residents Assn. will host a forum for Newport Beach City Council candidates Wednesday evening at the OASIS Senior Center.

The event, the last before the Nov. 4 election, will start at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments and opportunities to chat one-on-one with candidates, as well as advocates on either side of Measure Y.

Then, candidates will have a chance to discuss their views on issues that are most important to Corona del Mar residents during a moderated panel, expected to last an hour, until about 7:30 p.m.

The 2014 election is a major one for Newport, as eight candidates vie for four seats.

Local businessman Marshall “Duffy” Duffield is expected to be absent, as he underwent heart bypass surgery at Hoag Hospital on Monday, according to a statement from his wife, Terry Duffield.

Duffield will resume campaigning for the District 3 seat now occupied by Mayor Rush Hill once doctors give him the OK.

Terry Duffield wrote in the statement that the surgery was successful, and that her husband will start physical therapy by the end of the week.

Oasis is located at 801 Narcissus Ave. in Corona del Mar.
