An Irvine woman who was Mrs. Orange County 2014 was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of producing and distributing child pornography, according to local and federal officials who are now trying to determine how many children might have been victimized.

Authorities allege that Meghan Breanna Alt, 25, used a 4-year-old family member to produce sexually explicit images that she then sold to a Marine in Southern California who paid her with cash and gifts.

Alt competed in the Mrs. California pageant in June 2014 after being crowned Mrs. Orange County earlier that year, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

She also volunteered and supervised young children at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Clemente and Irvine, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators from the Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force took Alt into custody at about noon Wednesday in San Diego County after pulling over her car, authorities said.

According to sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock, Alt confessed during an interview to making and distributing pornography involving the 4-year-old.

“Investigators also believe Alt advertised services online which many times resulted in an exchange of sex for money, often occurring with her children present,” Hallock wrote in a news release.

Alt was arrested on suspicion of production and distribution of child pornography and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. She is being held in Orange County Jail with bail set at $100,000 and is expected to appear in court Friday.

Sheriff’s officials asked that anyone with information about the case or other possible victims call investigators at (714) 647-7418 or (714) 647-7000.
