A pair of robbers knocked on a Costa Mesa motel room’s door Tuesday night before holding the man inside at gunpoint and stealing his belongings, according to police.

The robbery started around 9:30 p.m. when a guest at the Days Inn at 2100 Newport Blvd. opened the door and saw two men, one of whom brandished a gun, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Mike Manson said.

The guest cooperated as the robbers demanded his wallet, a laptop, a suitcase and other personal items, according to police.
