Two of the three suffered stab wounds after allegedly hitting a victim with a pole-like object.

Costa Mesa police responded to a report of a fight in the 100 block of Magnolia Street at 2:17 a.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Zack Hoferitza. When officers arrived, participants were leaving in different directions.

Local hospitals were asked to call the Costa Mesa Police Department if patients with stab wounds arrived at their facilities, according to a news release.

Officers spotted a blood trail that led to a home in the 100 block of East 18th Street, where they found a 26-year-old man who had sustained facial and head injuries.

Witnesses reported that he had been hit with a blunt object while fighting with the three unidentified men. He was admitted to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, where he was in stable condition.

The police were later notified that two 23-year-old men sought medical attention at Hoag for stab wounds. One of the men, a Stanton resident, was transported and admitted to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana because of the nature of his injuries.

The other man was treated for a chest laceration and released from Hoag.

Costa Mesa police are looking for the third man. They

are investigating the incident as an assault with a deadly weapon.

No arrests have been made, said Lt. Bryan Glass.
