Two of three suspects involved in a fight suffered stab wounds early Saturday morning after hitting a victim with a pole-like object, officials said.

Costa Mesa police responded to a report of the fight on the 100 block of Magnolia Street at 2:17 a.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Zack Hoferitza.

A male victim had allegedly been accosted by three male suspects, one of whom hit him with an object similar to a pole, Hoferitza said.

The victim’s name and age were not available for release.

Two of the victim’s friends, witnessing the attack, came to his aid. Two suspects received stab wounds during the fight.

The victim, after initially refusing treatment, was transported by police to Hoag Hospital for head trauma and a possible broken jaw, Hoferitza said.

The suspects also received aid. Medical officials notified police that one sought help at Hoag Hospital, and the other sought help at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

Detectives went to interview the suspects Saturday, but Hoferitza was not aware of any arrests as of mid-day. The investigation is ongoing.
