Los Olivos Marketplace announces 11 more tenants

Los Olivos Marketplace in Irvine announced 11 new tenants for its 120,000-square-foot expansion.

Construction on the second phase at Los Olivos, in the 8600 block of Irvine Center Drive, began in summer 2014 and is scheduled to be completed late this year. All the new tenants are slated to open next spring, joining existing tenants such as 24 Hour Fitness, 7-Eleven and Spectrum Montessori.

“The collection of casual dining, retail shops and services will give Irvine Spectrum residents, employees and visitors a new local destination to meet their daily shopping and dining needs,” Easther Liu, chief marketing officer for Irvine Co. Retail Properties.

The newly announced tenants are Angelina’s Pizzeria Napoletana, Blue Eyed Girl women’s wear, The Burger Lounge, Chase Bank, Hoag Medical Group, Newport Colony kitchen store, Panini Cafe, Radiant Hot Yoga, Rite-Aid, Starbucks and Wells Fargo.

The additions follow the announcement that Whole Foods Market will open a 40,000-square-foot store at Los Olivos Marketplace.

Ruby’s taking donations for children’s hospitals

The Irvine-based Ruby’s Diner chain is accepting donations through Oct. 10 to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Guests who contribute to the fundraiser will be recognized with Miracle Balloon icons featuring their names. The icons will be used to create decorative murals at each Ruby’s location.

In honor of the fundraising effort, Ruby’s introduced the Muddy Gummy Goody Shake, a limited-time treat that blends vanilla ice cream, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, Oreo cookie crumbles, whipped cream and gummy worms.

Sushi ‘hand roll’ restaurant to add 2 locations

Temakira, a sushi “hand roll” restaurant at 259 E. 17th St. in Costa Mesa, is expanding, with a second Costa Mesa location and one in Irvine opening this fall, according to a news release.

The Costa Mesa spot will be in OC Mix at 3313 Hyland Ave., replacing N’ice Cream.

The Irvine location, in the University Center at 4100 Campus Drive, will replace Wetzel’s Pretzels.

Temakira, which opened in November, was Orange County’s first temaki restaurant. The food is a type of sushi shaped like a cone, wrapped in seaweed and eaten by hand.

Pelican Hill resort gets high rankings

The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast ranked second among the world’s top 20 golf resorts, second among the top 20 family resorts and fifth among the 20 best spa resorts in the Andrew Harper Hideaway Report Readers’ Choice Awards for 2015, according to a news release.

“We sincerely appreciate this marvelous feedback that our loyal Andrew Harper guests hold Pelican Hill in such high regard in so many areas, from the ocean-view golf club and the luxurious spa experience to spacious accommodations and epicurean experiences designed for the comfort and enjoyment of families traveling together,” Pelican Hill Managing Director Giuseppe Lama said in a statement.

2 Ware Malcomb executives receive recognition

Two senior executives of Irvine-based design firm Ware Malcomb have been honored for their community work.

Chief Financial Officer Tobin Sloane was recently named an executive fellow of the UC Riverside School of Business Administration for the 2015-16 school year. The Executive Fellows Program aims to connect business leaders with students and faculty to enrich the learning experience and enhance the business school’s contribution to the community, according to a news release.

Chief Marketing Officer Ruth Brajevich was recently chosen for the 2015 Women of Influence roster in Real Estate Forum magazine.

Cie Digital Labs latest tech firm to lease at Newport Gateway

Cie Digital Labs, an interactive development firm and technology start-up studio, has signed a five-year lease for 13,054 square feet of office space at Newport Gateway in Irvine, according to the Irvine Co.

Cie Digital, which had been headquartered in Long Beach, is the fourth technology company in six months to lease at Newport Gateway, a 570,000-square-foot campus that features two 14-story office buildings at the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Jamboree Road.

“The city of Irvine is quickly growing into a hub for tech start-ups,” Anderee Berengian, chairman of Cie Digital Labs, said in a statement. “The growing technology sector in Irvine, combined with one of the best areas to live in Southern California, will make it easier for us to attract quality talent.”

Irvine sales, marketing firm acquires Missouri company

Irvine-based Advantage Sales and Marketing has acquired Marlin Network, an advertising and marketing firm based in Springfield, Mo.

Marlin Network will continue to be led by Dennis Marlin, who founded the company in 1985, and the division will continue to be based in Springfield, according to a news release. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Marlin Network, which focuses on the food service industry, employs about 150 people and had revenue of $15.2 million in 2014.

Advantage, founded in 1987, has more than 40,000 employees and does work in the grocery, drugstore, consumer electronics and other industries.
