Biz-News: Firefighters to strut for CHOC at Bloomingdale’s

Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza plans to host its annual Firefighter Fashion Show for charity at 1 p.m. Sept. 20.

Members of the Costa Mesa Fire Department plan to participate in the show, which raises money for Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s Glass Slipper Guild, according to a new release.

The event will take place on the department store’s upper level.

Rutan & Tucker, LLP will be recognized Nov. 20 as “Outstanding Medium-Sized Business/Corporation” at the annual National Philanthropy Day Orange County luncheon.

“We are very proud of this award,” firm managing partner Steve Nichols said in a statement. “It is truly a reflection of the character of our firm and those who work here.”

The Costa Mesa-based law firm will be acknowledged for its “commitment to philanthropy through financial support of one or more nonprofit organizations, leadership involvement, and volunteer participation and commitment of its workforce in establishing a role model for other businesses in our community,” according to a press release.

Honorees were nominated and then chosen by a panel of judges made up of Orange County business and community leaders.

Engineering firm expands to Irvine

West Yost Associates has opened an office in Irvine, its first in Southern California.

The engineering firm also hired five team members to man the new office.

“The ability to hire an established team of professionals already working locally in Irvine was a unique and auspicious opportunity,” West Yost Associates President Charles Duncan said in a statement.

West Yost is a civil and environmental engineering consulting firm founded in 1990.

Bungalow Lounge expands to Pacific City

What was unique to Santa Monica, The Bungalow Lounge will now have a location in Huntington Beach at Pacific City — an 11-acre dining, shopping and entertainment destination still in development.

The Bungalow in Santa Monica is “famous for its rustic and vintage designs, expansive ocean views, uniquely curated spaces and refreshing menu of cocktails and bites,” according to a statement. All of those elements will be incorporated into the Huntington Beach location, “while paying homage to Huntington Beach’s ‘Surf City’ history and community.”

The new location, which will be close to Newport city limits, is expected to open in 2015.
