Newport expos: What you need for disaster readiness, senior services

Share

Two expos are being presented in Newport Beach on Saturday – one offering tips on how to prepare for emergencies, and another showcasing resources available to senior citizens.

The Newport Beach Fire Department will hold the sixth annual Disaster Preparedness Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newport Beach Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave.

At the kid-friendly event, residents can learn about communication via radio, what they need in a disaster supply kit and how to administer basic first aid, according to a city news release.

Members of the local Community Emergency Response Team will staff the event.

From 9 a.m. to noon, the Oasis Senior Center will host the Senior Resources Expo at 801 Narcissus Ave.

Vendors representing health, home care and related groups will be on hand.

The expo will be followed by “A Taste at Oasis,” featuring four samples from the center’s lunch vendors for $5 per person.
