Newport Beach police are investigating a burglary at Corona del Mar High School that was discovered Thursday morning.

Police said a burglar or burglars broke into the campus’ student government office and an office used by a police officer stationed on campus.

An empty cash register was taken from the Associated Student Body office and a small projector was taken from the police office, said Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella.

The loss totaled less than $1,000, she said.

A janitor saw broken glass just after 6 a.m. Thursday, police said. When officers responded, they discovered someone had broken the ASB office window to gain access to the building, Manzella said.

Officers also found a small amount of blood at the scene, likely from someone who was cut on the broken glass, police said.

Detectives are investigating but have no suspects, Manzella said.
