Body pulled ashore at Corona del Mar

Newport Beach police are investigating as a possible drowning the death of a 70-year-old man found on the main beach at Corona del Mar State Beach on Tuesday morning.

Officers called to the scene around 9 a.m. pulled the body from the water, according to Lt. Jeff Brouwer.

Foul play is not suspected, according to Lt. Damon Psaros, who said the death is being investigated as a drowning.

“At this point there’s nothing suspicious,” he said.

Detectives are now working to identify the man, Brouwer said.

No other information was immediately available.
