This post has been corrected, as noted below.

In preparation for the city’s takeover of the Costa Mesa Senior Center, the organization’s current leadership will host a sale Aug. 30.

Items from the gift shop, holiday decorations, books, couches and library chairs will all be up for grabs at the center, said board President Judy Lindsay.

Proceeds from the sale will go to the outgoing Costa Mesa Senior Center corporation. City Hall will assume full control of the financially troubled center Sept. 8.

The center will remain operational through the transition. However, fewer classes are likely to be offered in the days leading up to the city takeover.

Lunch service will remain uninterrupted, Lindsay said.

[For the record, 10:00 a.m. Aug. 25: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified Judy Lindsay as library board president. She is the Senior Center board president.]
