Car’s driver injured in crash with parked pickup in Newport

One person was hospitalized Tuesday night after a car slammed into a parked pickup in Newport Beach hard enough to flip the truck, police said.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. near the intersection of Ridge Park Road and Campobello, Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.

Paramedics took the car’s driver to a trauma center for treatment of a cut on the head. Police did not release further information about the driver.

No other vehicles were involved and no one else was hurt, Manzella said.

Police are still investigating the wreck. It was unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors, Manzella said.
