A man suffered minor burns in a Corona del Mar residential fire Monday morning, authorities said.

Firefighters were called at 5:29 a.m. after heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from a two-unit structure in the 600 block of Poinsettia Avenue, said Jennifer Manzella, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Fire Department.

The man, who lives near the unit, was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment.
