Competition to benefit Literacy Project

Share

Two teams of local celebrities will compete in Brasserie Pascal’s Celebrity Bar Battle to benefit the Literacy Project Foundation next week at Fashion Island.

The teams will work for tips Tuesday, with the proceeds helping local at-risk and disadvantaged children learn to read, according to a news release.

Team one — “Off the Menu” dining columnists for the Newport Beach Independent Catherine Del Casale and Christopher Trela — will be serving between 5:30 and 7 p.m., according to the release.

Team two — celebrity Chef Jamie Gwen and foundation President and Chief Executive Sue Tucker — plan to serve between 7 and 8:30 p.m.

The winners will be announced shortly after. The event will take place at the bistro bar and lounge Brasserie Pascal.

“Our goal is to raise awareness of the foundation’s mission, which gives Orange County’s most-struggling readers a chance to become literate adults,” Tucker said in a news release. “Pascal has always used his resources to help charities, and it’s like being invited into his home for a party! In good cheer, this is a way to bring a lot of people together to learn about the at-risk kids we serve.”
