Bruxie introduces Irvine location

Forget bread on sandwiches, the people want waffles.

The gourmet waffle sandwich chain, Bruxie, is opening its sixth Southern California location Tuesday at the Heritage Plaza Center in Irvine, according to a news release.

The chain, which first opened in Old Towne Orange in 2010, offers gourmet waffle sandwiches, salads, shakes and sundaes.

Chefs and partners Dean Simon and Kelly Mullarney created Bruxie.

“We opened our first location with confidence in our concept, but we had no idea the sensation that Bruxie would become, so we are continually looking for ways to better serve our guests,” Simon said in a prepared statement.

Bruxie locations have indoor and outdoor seating accommodations. They serve Peet’s Coffee and Tea products and everything on the menu is less than $10.

“Bruxie prides itself on truly unique offerings,” Simon said. “We have gained a reputation for our waffle, which is crispy, light, and yeasty. We are also known for pure cane sugar fountain sodas and real Wisconsin frozen custard, the base of our shakes, floats and desserts.”

Bruxie Irvine will be at 14376 Culver Drive. Its hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
