New pizzeria in Newport Beach

Los Angeles-based Fresh Brothers has opened its first Orange County location, in Newport Beach.

The pizzeria in the Harbor View Center, 1616 San Miguel Drive, opened July 25.

A news release describes the pizza joint as a “fun and fresh California twist on the traditional pizzeria” that features family recipes of pizzas, salads and wings.

More than 45 ingredients are available, including vegan and gluten-free options.

“This is a major step for us,” said Adam Goldberg, Fresh Brothers’ founder and CEO, in the release. “We’ve done well in L.A. and in the San Fernando Valley. But Orange County marks a milestone, and we’re tremendously excited to be here.”

New chef for Newport venue

A new chef, Bruno Massuger, has been appointed to oversee the Back Bay Bistro restaurant and catering services at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Newport Beach.

Massuger formerly worked at the Center Club in Costa Mesa, as well as for several other ClubCorp properties, according to a news release.

The French native trained at the Ecole Hoteliere in France and at the Culinary Institute of America, the release said.

Hoag Epilepsy Program director chosen

Hoag Hospital has welcomed Dr. David Millett as its new epilepsy program director, the hospital announced in a recent news release.

“We are thrilled to have [Millett] join our team,” Dr. Michael Brant-Zawadzki, who heads the Hoag Neurosciences Institute, said in a statement. “His vision aligns with our mission of improving each patient’s overall quality of life by providing specialized, individualized care backed by evidence-based medicine and the latest clinical research.”

Millett helped build Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center’s epilepsy care program, according to the release.

At Hoag, it says, the nationally recognized neurologist will help develop diagnostic services, such as intracranial video monitoring and neuroimaging, as well as broaden treatment options to include minimally invasive surgery and dietary therapy.
