2 hospitalized after car crash in Costa Mesa

Firefighters had to free a person from the wreckage of a three-car collision that hospitalized two people Saturday afternoon in Costa Mesa, according to authorities.

Crews responded to the crash at Randolph Avenue and Bristol Street around 4:45 p.m. and used heavy rescue tools to extricate one person from a sedan, according to the Costa Mesa Fire Department.

Two people involved in the wreck were taken to hospitals in Santa Ana and Newport Beach, according to Fire Battalion Chief Bill Kershaw. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.

Two other people involved were OK, according to Kershaw.
