Costa Mesa police said they arrested a parolee Tuesday evening after he was found with pepper spray, a banned item for parolees.

Police say Harry Wall, 35, of Costa Mesa tried to avoid a police car by ducking into a fast-food restaurant on Harbor Avenue around 5 p.m.

The officer in the car decided to talk to Wall and found out he’d been convicted of a felony assault and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, according to police.

Police said they confiscated the pepper spray and arrested Wall on suspicion of illegal use of tear gas and a felony parole violation.

He’s being held without bail in Orange County Jail, police said.
