Share

A woman struck by an SUV earlier this week remains in serious but stable condition, police said Wednesday.

Police said the 41-year-old Costa Mesa resident was jaywalking across Newport Boulevard about 11:49 p.m. Monday when a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder hit her.

She suffered a broken jaw, broken pelvis and internal injuries and was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Costa Mesa Police Lt. Greg Scott said. Police would not say if she was expected to survive.

Police have said it did not appear that the 36-year-old Huntington Beach man driving the Pathfinder was under the influence of alcohol.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Traffic Investigator Darren Wood at (714) 754-5264.
