A man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly drove his car into a small group of people, injuring three, following an argument in the Woodbridge neighborhood of Irvine.

Jerome Bowman, 21, of Fontana, was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of felony assault and felony driving under the influence, police said Saturday.

Irvine Police Commander Matt Mahoney said Bowman was allegedly involved in an altercation near the intersection of West Yale Loop and Stone Creek North.

Shortly thereafter, Bowman drove his car into a group of people who had been at a house party nearby and were gathered outside, Mahoney said.

He said the call came at about 10:18 p.m.

Three males were taken to area hospitals—two adults and a juvenile, he said. The most serious injury, sustained by one of the adults, was a compound fracture to the leg.

Bowman was stopped a short distance away at Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway.

“We’re still looking into the specifics,” Mahoney said, about how the altercation started.
