Marines to wash cars to support comrades

About 100 Marines will wash cars at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina on July 27 to raise money for the Newport Beach 1st Battalion 1st Marines Foundation, according to a news release from the foundation.

The foundation supports the 1st Battalion 1st Marines, which the city of Newport Beach decided to adopt in 2003.

The money collected will be donated to 1st Battalion 1st Marines returning from Afghanistan.

Some of the Marines working the car wash have just returned home or were injured in the line of duty, according to the foundation.

The public can get their cars washed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Newport Dunes is at 1131 Back Bay Drive, Newport Beach.
