Police arrested a Newport Beach man Monday after rocks were thrown through windows of a Balboa Island house.

A resident at the home called police around 8:37 a.m., and officers responded to the 300 block of North Bay Front, where multiple large windows were shattered, Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.

By then the perpetrator had fled, Manzella said, but officers found 24-year-old Clayton Richard Adler a few blocks away and arrested him on suspicion of vandalism.

“He admitted to the crime,” Manzella said.

According to police, Adler is related to the victim, and an argument between the two of them had escalated.

The victim estimated the damage at about $10,000, Manzella said.

Adler, who works as a dishwasher, is being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to jail records.
