Officials identify motorcyclist killed in crash

Authorities have identified a man who suffered fatal injuries in a motorcycle crash in Newport Beach on Monday morning.

Dwight Palmer, 55, of Mission Viejo was westbound on East Coast Highway near Reef Point Drive when his motorcycle and a vehicle collided at about 9:13 a.m., according to the Orange County coroner’s office and Newport Beach police.

Palmer suffered major injuries, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

The other driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not hurt in the crash, Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.
