Shalimar Park gets a new playground

Share

More than 250 volunteers began building a new playground Friday on Costa Mesa’s Westside.

The castle-themed, brightly colored playground in Shalimar Park, 782 Shalimar Drive, was based on designs from children’s drawings done in May. The project is a collaboration of the city of Costa Mesa, KaBOOM!, THINK Together and the CarMax Foundation.

More than 1,300 Costa Mesa children will benefit from the new play area, according to a city news release.

“The new playground equipment and picnic area will provide quality play opportunities and neighborhood gatherings for the next generation of Shalimar residents,” according to the release.
