Costa Mesa recently won awards for its public-access programming and financial reporting.

The “Costa Mesa Minute” show won a Golden Hub of Innovation award from the Assn. of California Cities, Orange County. The show took first place in the Technology and E-Government category, according to a city news release.

The program, produced by city staffers Dane Bora, Brad Long and Bill Lobdell, airs each weekday to present city-related news and information. It debuted in September 2011 and celebrated its 500th show last August. It is available on Costa Mesa TV and online.

Meanwhile, the Government Finance Officers Assn. of the United States and Canada awarded the city the association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

Assistant Finance Director Colleen O’Donoghue also was recognized for her work preparing the financial report.

“Congratulations to our finance department for this high honor,” city CEO Tom Hatch said in the release. “This award is another demonstration of the city’s commitment to transparency and citizen engagement.”

In February, the association gave Costa Mesa its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fiscal year 2012-13 budget.
