Parade and Festival
The third annual Newport Peninsula Bike Parade and Community Festival will kick off at 9 a.m., starting with the bike and dog parade at the 38th Street Park, according to the city’s website. The parade will continue down Balboa Boulevard to Channel Place Park. Mayor Keith Curry will say a few words at 9:15 a.m. and the festival, which will feature carnival games, bounce houses, giant slides, food and arts and crafts, will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Those interested in participating in the parade are encouraged to decorate bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers, and are asked to leash their dogs. For more information, call Newport Beach’s Recreation and Senior Services Department at (949) 644-3151.

Mariners Parade and Celebration
Newport Beach and the Mariners Elementary School Foundation is hosting its 41st annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration at Mariners Park, 1300 Irvine Ave.
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Commodore Road and Mariners Drive, with the celebration following from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park, according to the city’s website.
The celebration will have food for sale and games and activities such as a rock climbing wall, bungee run, bounce houses, a 28-foot slide, games and more. Wristbands cost $15 ($10 for toddlers) for the games and activities and are available for sale at the event.

Boat Parade
The American Legion Yacht Club and the American Legion Post 291 are once again sponsoring the annual Old Glory Boat Parade at 1 p.m. at Newport Harbor.
The parade will start and finish off Collins Island, according to the parade website. The Newport Harbor Patrol Fire Boat will kick off the parade.

July 4th Flyover
The Condor Squadron Officer’s and Airmen’s Assn., a nonprofit founded by World War II fighter pilots, will fly four AT-6s over Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente, according to the city’s website.
The flyover begins at 6:35 p.m. over Huntington Beach and will fly over over Newport Beach between 6:10 and 6:15 p.m. The pilots will continue their flight path south along the coast, until arriving over San Clemente about 6:45 p.m.

Newport Dunes
Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort is hosting three days of fun for the Fourth of July. On Thursday, it will host an all-day festival with carnival games, face painting, balloon sculptor, water activities such a floating obstacle course and 15-foot slide, plus more.
From 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday a chili cook-off will take place, according to a press release. Live music and more festivities will continue until the city-sponsored fireworks show at 9 p.m. Newport Beach residents can watch the show for free.
On Friday, Moe B’s Aquatic Park will be open for rentals. And on Saturday, an all-day carnival with Ferris wheel, zip line, hydro climbing wall, giant slide, the Orbitron and Roco Plane will be in full swing. From noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday gourmet food trucks will compete with one another for a $1,000 prize. Attendees will cast their votes for their favorite food truck. And a deejay and bands will be on hand from 4 to 9:30 p.m.
