A small blaze burned about a quarter of an acre of brush in Talbert Regional Park on Friday before crews quickly doused it, according to a Costa Mesa fire official.

Three units from the Costa Mesa Fire Department responded to the fire near the 2500 block of Placentia Avenue at about 11:55 a.m. and had the flames extinguished by 12:20 p.m., according to authorities.

A Huntington Beach police helicopter also assisted by spotting from the air, Costa Mesa Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Diamond said. Crews remained to mop up hot spots for about an hour and a half, according to Diamond.
