Downed power line slows Newport traffic

A downed city power line slowed traffic Monday morning in West Newport.

Newport Beach police said they were notified around 9:16 a.m. that a dump truck had hit the pole during placement of mulch onto the West Balboa Boulevard center divider near 45th Street.

Southern California Edison responded and repaired the pole. One lane of Balboa in each direction was closed for a few hours, police said.
