Biz News: Oak Grill, Aqua Lounge to open at Fashion Island

Oak Grill and Aqua Lounge are set to open June 27 at Fashion Island, according to a news release.

Oak Grill will offer a large patio and alfresco dining and 50 California wines by the glass. Aqua Lounge, according to the release, will feature “craft cocktails, a 360-degree bar, regionally known resident deejays spinning a blend of current and international music nightly, and an intimate outdoor patio and fire pit that serves both spaces.”

The Bungalow opens for lunch

The Bungalow restaurant, 2441 East Coast Hwy. in Corona del Mar, began offering weekday lunch service June 9, according to a news release.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday. Dinner service will continue at 5 p.m. daily.

Hensley joins United Way board

Orange County United Way has added Newport Beach community leader Joseph C. Hensley to its board of directors.

Hensley, the market president of U.S. Bank, will serve a three-year term.

Hensley worked his way through college as a teller, starting at 18 years old. He joined U.S. Bank in 2007 and now leads about 1,150 employees throughout the county.

Ware Malcomb announces hire

Sonia Sorensen has joined Ware Malcomb as engineering regional manager, overseeing client relationships, staff management and the overall growth of the civil engineering practice in Los Angeles and San Diego and at the Irvine corporate headquarters, according to a news release.

She has nearly 20 years of experience, including civil engineering and project management. Most recently she ran her own consulting firm. Among her clients were Southern California Edison, Glendale Water & Power and Glendale Public Works.

Orange County nonprofits can compete to win a year of no-cost public relations and marketing communications services.

Tustin-based HKA Inc. Marketing Communications is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the Locally PRoud program, according to a news release.

To apply for the grant, nonprofits need to submit a three-part application. The first part is a short video about the group and how HKA can help. The second part includes a short essay and the third is a questionnaire. Entries are due by Aug. 31.

The public will get to vote on the finalists’ videos, which will be posted on the HKA website in October. The winner will be announced Dec. 2.
