A stabbing suspect is still at large after an attack on UC Irvine’s campus early Friday morning, according to UCI police.

The stabbing occurred at 3 a.m. Friday near student housing at 64000 Vista Del Campo Road, police said in a news release.

The suspect is Krist Porayanee, a 22-year-old Cambodian man who is 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 120 pounds, with black and brown tattoos on both arms, according to police.

The victim is a student whom officials declined to identify, UCI spokeswoman Cathy Lawhon said. She described his injuries as “non-life threatening” and said he was in stable condition.

“He was in good enough shape to give information to the police about the suspect when they arrived on the scene,” she said.

The suspect is a South Pasadena resident who is not affiliated with UCI but did know the victim, Lawhon said.

“The information I have is that they had been at a party and there was an altercation between the two male subjects over a girl,” she said.

Police believe Porayanee left campus and may be in a 2013 four-door silver Audi with a California license plate of 7AUA604.

South Pasadena police looked for Porayanee at his residence but did not find him there, Lawhon said.

UCI police have alerted other law-enforcement agencies across Southern California, she said.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or Porayanee is asked to call 911 or UC Irvine police dispatch at (949) 824-5223.
