Taxpayer group endorses Steel for supervisor seat

In her race for Orange County supervisor, Michelle Steel has gotten another endorsement: the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assn.

“Michelle has a long history of fighting government bureaucracy and standing up for taxpayers,” Jon Coupal, president of Howard Jarvis, said in a prepared statement Wednesday. “We need more leaders like her at every level of government because she stands up for taxpayers.”

Steel, a Surfside resident and vice chairwoman for the state Board of Equalization, has also been endorsed by Reps. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Costa Mesa) and Ed Royce (R-Fullerton).

Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas and county Sheriff Sandra Hutchens are serving on her campaign for the District 2 seat, which includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and portions of Fountain Valley.

If elected in the June 2014 primary, Steele would replace Supervisor John Moorlach, who, because of term limits, cannot run again for a seat on the five-member board.
